Bentley Cruises Past AIC 7-2 on Senior Day

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley cruised past AIC 7-2 on Senior Day for the women's tennis team on Saturday for the team's third straight win, and fourth in its last five matches. All seven seniors on the roster posted a win on the day.

The win improved Bentley's Northeast-10 record to 6-3, as they prepare to enter the final week of the regular season. They have two crucial matches left against fellow playoff contenders Southern N.H. on Tuesday and Stonehill on Thursday to close out the regular season.

The Falcons swept through the doubles matches, with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches by 8-0 scores. Those came from the teams of Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport), and Rachel Madden (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) and Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Conn./North Haven), respectively.

Bentley also won the No. 1 doubles, as the team of Rachel Hui (Hong Kong) and Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) took it 8-6, to improve to 7-2 as a doubles team this fall.

In singles, AIC won the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. But Bentley blitzed through the No. 3-No. 6 matches without dropping a single game. Petruzziello in the No. 3 match, senior Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) in the No. 4 match, senior Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass./Ursuline) in the No. 5 match and senior Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) in the No. 6 match, all won by scores of 8-0.

With the win, the Falcons are now 9-3 overall on the season. Tuesday's match against SNHU gets underway at 3:00 pm.
