Von Oldenburg & Petruzziello Named Bentley Women’s Tennis Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seniors Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) and Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) have been named captains of the Bentley University women's tennis team, head coach Rick Edelmann announced.

Petruzziello had a strong 8-1 overall singles record last season, and was 4-0 in Northeast-10 matches. Against NE10 foes, her singles wins came over Franklin Pierce, Saint Rose (Oct. 1), Saint Michael's and New Haven. In doubles play she went 3-1 in NE 10 matches, claiming wins over Franklin Pierce, New Haven and AIC.

Von Oldenburg went 3-3 in singles action, with a win against NE10 rival New Haven, plus against Winona State and Albany State.

In addition to her play on the court, the Texas native was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete for having a GPA of 3.50 or greater during the academic year.

Bentley is coming a season where they won a program record 15 matches, and advanced to the NE10 Semifinals with a 5-3 victory over Merrimack in the opening round. After being voted 6th in the NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll, they are set to open the 2017-18 season on Labor Day at home against Daemen.
