Women’s Tennis Edged by Holy Cross 4-3

WORCESTER, Mass. – Division I Holy Cross denied Bentley the opportunity to break the program's record for wins in a single season on Sunday with a narrow 4-3 victory over the visiting Falcons.

Bentley won the doubles point with a sweep of the three matches, but the Crusaders won four of six in singles to come away with the close victory.

In doubles, the Falcons' No. 1 team of the day, Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) and Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) were 6-2 winners over Katie Elia and Isabela Bagi. The No. 2 team of Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) were7-6 (7-5) victors over Morgan McGuire and Allison Reiling. Bentley's No. 3 pairing of Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) and Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) took a 6-1 win over Meghan Lewis and Eleanor Fulghum

The Falcons' points in singles came from Suchanek in the No. 2 position, and Tynan in the No. 3 position. Suchanek rallied to defeat Elia in three sets, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4, while Tynan defeated Bagi in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).

Bentley will get to take a final crack at win No. 15 next Saturday, when they close out the regular season at Simmons.
