Bentley Drops 7-2 Decision to Assumption in Northeast-10 Match

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) won both of her matches for Bentley University, but the women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Assumption on the road on Tuesday in a Northeast-10 match.

Brandow was part of the No. 2 doubles winning team, along with sophomore Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington HS). The pair defeated the Greyhounds team of Kristen Carbone and Paige Benoit 8-6. Assumption though claimed the No. 1 and No. 3 matches, by scores of 8-3 and 8-2, respectively, to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.

In singles, Brandow faced off against junior Maggie Holland in the No. 5 match. Holland took the first set 6-1, but Brandow turned it around in the second set and took it 6-1. She then earned a hard-fought third set, 7-6, to take the match.

Bentley freshmen Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville HS) and Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Barnstable HS) also performed well, in the No. 3 and No. 4 matches, but dropped 6-4, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-4 decisions, respectively.

Now 1-2 on the season, the Falcons are back on the courts on Saturday when they host Saint Anselm.
