Le Moyne Uses Singles Play to Clip Bentley 5-4

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Le Moyne used a 4-2 advantage in singles play to rally past Bentley for a narrow 5-4 victory over the Falcons on Sunday in Northeast-10 women's tennis action.

Bentley led 2-1 after doubles as they won the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) and Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon) took a 9-8 win in the No. 2 match, while Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) were 8-6 winners in the No. 3 match.

Le Moyne though won the top four singles matches to take command of the match and eventually win 5-4 overall. Bentley took victories in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches. Fabianski picked up her second win of the day, defeating Allison Jones 7-6, 6-3 in the No. 5 match, and Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) defeated Autumn Hogan in three sets in the No. 6 duel, 3-6, 6-2, 10-2.

Bentley is now 6-4 on the season overall and 6-3 in Northeast-10 play. They return to the courts on Wednesday when they host Southern New Hampshire at 3:00 pm.
