Bentley Tops Merrimack 7-2 Behind Three Double Winners

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University won its third straight match Thursday afternoon over Merrimack, 7-2 behind three double winners in a Northeast-10 women's tennis match.

The double winners for the Falcons were freshmen Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) and Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) and sophomore Stephania Adondakis (Salt Lake City, Utah/Waterford School).

Bentley swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles play. There, Gianino beat sophomore Rachel Muller in the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-4 for her second win of the day. Hetyei rallied to beat senior Mollie Fitzgerald 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 5 match, and Adondakis topped freshman Tiane Dame 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 6 match for their second wins of the afternoon.

Sophomore Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug), a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Alyx Barnes in the No. 4 match, was the other winner in singles for Bentley.

The Falcons, now 8-5 overall and 7-1 in NE-10 play, travel to Saint Michael's on Saturday.
