WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Stephania Adondakis (Sandy, Utah/Waterford School) won in No. 6 singles to clinch the match for the Bentley women's tennis team in a 5-4 victory over Merrimack on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 action.

Adondakis beat Erin McMahon 6-4, 6-4 as the Falcons improve to 7-3 in the NE-10 and 7-10 overall. They've won two in a row and three of four. Merrimack falls to 7-4 in the NE-10 and 8-12 overall.

Bentley led 2-1 after doubles, as the team of Paulina Sotomayor (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan) and Rachael Litton (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) won in the top-flight, and Kara Murphy (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) and Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) won in the second-flight.

Merrimack took the first, second and third-flight matches in singles, but Bentley was victorious in the other three. Brittany Harbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet) beat Alyx Barnes in the fourth-flight, 6-0, 6-3, and junior Katie Van Gilst (Harwinton, Conn./Lewis S. Mills) defeated Mollie Fitzgerald in the fifth-flight, 6-4, 6-3.

Bentley continues its home stand Wednesday afternoon against Franklin Pierce at 12:30 p.m.
