Four Named Bentley Swimming and Diving Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – A quartet of seniors have been named captains of the 2019-20 Bentley University swimming and diving teams, head coach Mary Kay Samko announced.

Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS) and Paige MacNeil (Branford, Conn./ Branford HS) will lead the women's team while the men's team captains will be Timothy Fay (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown HS) and Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS).

"The swim and dive captains for the 2019-20 season bring a wealth of experience to the team," said Samko. "I am very confident that this group of senior captains will provide the leadership we need to remain atop the Northeast-10.

"Both women captains have stood atop the podium at the conference championships;" continued Samko. "Caroline has been among the best divers in the conference the last few years, and the versatile MacNeil boasts school records in the 50 backstroke and two relays.

At the Northeast-10 Championships last February, Logozzo earned silver in both diving events with scores of 373.24 from the one-meter board and 336.10 off the three meter. MacNeil helped the Falcons take first in the 800 yard free relay in a school and conference record 7:34.90. Individually, she was seventh in the 200 backstroke.

"Timothy is our iron man, having represented Bentley as a diver and a distance swimmer, while Jarod holds school records in the 200 backstroke and the 800 free relay," said Samko.

The school record for Yoshihara in the 800 free relay, 6:51.63, came in the 2019 NE10s when he helped the Falcons win the gold medal. He also captured the bronze in the 200 back. Fay's career accomplishments include finishing sixth in the one-meter diving and eighth in the 1650 free, both during the 2018 Northeast-10's.

Bentley begins its 2019-20 season Saturday afternoon at Wheaton College. The men's team, which was the 2019 NE10 champion, will carry a 33-meet dual winning streak into the opener and the women's team has won its last 21 dual meets.
