WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshmen Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) and Lucy Stowe (Millis/Millis HS) have been named the Swimming Rookies of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference, the conference office announced Friday.

In addition, Bentley's Mary Kay Samko was honored as the Men's Swimming Coach of the Year and Rick Danehy was recognized as both the Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year in the conference.

At the Northeast-10 Championships, Zoda was the conference champion in both the 100 yard freestyle and the 200 free. He also made two other trips to the top of the podium after helping the Falcons capture gold in both the 200 free relay and the 800 free relay.

Zoda twice broke the school record in the 100, lowering it to 45.93 seconds, and was part of four school record-setting relay teams. Those were achieved in the 200 free (1:23.07), the 400 free (3:04.44), the 800 free (6:51.63) and the 400 medley (1:34.34).

Slowe was part of Bentley's gold medal-winning 800 free relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay teams during the conference championships in February. All three broke the school record with times of 1:37.25 in the 200 free, 3:31.07 in the 400 free and 7:34.90 in the 800 free.

Slowe also achieved a school record of 1:54.40 while placing second in the 200 free and finished third in the 100 free.

Samko, an Arlington resident, was selected as the conference's top men's coach for the third time after leading the Falcons to the Northeast-10 championship and a third straight undefeated dual record (10-0). The 2018-19 season was the 23rd at Bentley for the longtime coach and included her 500th career dual victory.

This marked the fifth time that Danehy has been the NE10 Men's Diving Coach of the Year and also the fifth time he's received Women's Diving Coach of the Year honors. During the NE10 championships, his athletes accumulated 192 points and half of the 12 diving medals that were awarded. The Ashland resident recently completed his 24th year as Bentley's diving coach.
