Bentley Stands in 5th after Day 2 of Gompei Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. – Day two of the Gompei Invitational at WPI's Sport and Recreation Center is in the books and the Bentley University men's and women's swimming and diving teams are in fifth place, matching their standing at the start of the day.

Bentley owns a total of 2,287 points in the 15-team meet. Bryant University sits at the top of the scoreboard with 3,661.5, 503 more than runner-up Rowan.

The Falcons' top finisher for the day was senior Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedgam HS), who was third in the women's 400 yard individual medley with a 4:36.67.

On the men's side, Bentley's highest finish came in the same event with sophomore Dan Sausto (Slingerlands, N.Y./Doane Stuart School) fourth in 4:16.72.

Freshman Zach Papsco (Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) turned in a pair of sixth-place finishes, in the 50 butterfly (23.37) and in the 100 breaststroke (58.23). His time in the latter event was only six-hundredths of a second off the school record. Also placing sixth was freshman Oscar Chang (Dix Hills , N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West HS) in the 50 backstroke (28.10).

In the women's 200 freestyle, senior Brooke Jameson (Bedford/Bedford HS) and junior Paige MacNeil (Branford, Conn./Branford HS) were seventh and eighth, respectively. Jameson reached the wall in 1:56.60 and MacNeil followed 0.22 seconds later.

The men's 200 free saw freshman Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) match MacNeil's finish with his time 1:44.72.

Lucy Stowe (Millis/Milis HS), yet another freshman, was ninth in the 50 backstroke and junior Ari Revelas (Snyder, N.Y./Nardin Academy) was tenth in the 100 breast (1:08.85). Freshman Owen Busser (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) was also tenth in the three-meter diving (284.30).

In the men's 200 free relay, Bentley finished tenth in 1:26.03. A member of each class participated with Zoda followed by sophomore Clayton Bennice (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa HS). Junior Alper Alakaya (Milan, Italy)) and senior Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS).

The meet will conclude Sunday with prelims getting underway at 9 am and finals at 5 pm.
