Niemiec Leads Bentley to 10th Straight Win, 221-67 over Bridgewater State

WALTHAM, Mass. – In her final career dual meet, Bentley University senior captain Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS) posted two individual victories and was part of two winning relays to help the Falcons to a 221-67 win over Bridgewater State University in women's college swimming Wednesday evening at the Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.

Bentley captured 15 of 16 events to stretch its win streak to 10 and wrap up a 10-1 dual meet schedule.

Niemiec bookended the meet with a pair of relay wins, the 200 yard medley relay in the first event and the 200 free relay in the final one. She combined with junior Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/ Dedham HS) and senior captains Anne Warren (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron HS) and Jess Chen (Darien, Conn./Darien HS) for a 1:54.85 in the 200 medley and Chen, Warren and junior Hannah Rauch (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park HS) for a 1:45.26 in the 200 free relay.

Niemiec's individual wins came in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.65) and the 100 individual medley (1:03.20).

Bentley's other double-winners were Rauch and sophomores Paige MacNeil (Branford, Conn./ Branford HS) and Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS). MacNeil took first in both the 500 freestyle, with her 5:20.80 a season-best, and the 200 butterfly (2:17.87). Rauch earned her victories in the 50 free (26.58) and the 100 fly (1:04.81), and Logozzo swept the diving (235.15 one meter, 225.70 three meter).

The other winners for the Falcons were junior Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/Lubbock HS) in the 200 free (1:59.66), Warren in the 100 back (1:05.46), sophomore Lea Guldemond (West Newbury/ Central Catholic HS) in the 100 free (56.94), Kaduboski in the 200 back (2:10.63) and freshman Selin Karadeniz (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington HS) in the 200 breast (2:37.33).

Bentley will be back in action Feb. 8-11 when the Northeast-10 Conference Championships are held at WPI.
