Niemiec Receives Honorable Mention Scholar-All-America Recognition from CSCAA

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second straight year, Bentley University rising senior Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS) has been recognized as an honorable mention Scholar All-America by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

In addition, both the Bentley men's and women's teams received CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition for the fifth straight semester after achieving grade point averages of at least 3.0 during the spring 2017 semester.

The honor is the latest that Niemiec has earned following an outstanding junior season. She was previously cited as the co-MVP of the Bentley women's swimming and diving team, as the Women's Swimmer of the Meet at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships and as an Academic All-Northeast-10 honoree.

Niemiec, who owns the school records in four individual and two relay events, captured four golds and a total of seven medals at the 2017 Northeast-10 Championships. Her victories came in the 200 yard breaststroke (for the third straight year), the 200 individual medley, the 400 IM and the 800 free relay. In the latter, she helped Bentley break both the school and meet record with a clocking of 7:36.21.

The Bentley women's team achieved a 3.51 GPA during the spring semester and the Falcon men achieved a 3.31.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA – the oldest organization of college coaches in America – is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
