NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After participating on a winning 800 free relay team on Thursday and capturing the 200 yard individual medley Friday, Bentley University junior Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS) swam to victory in the 400 IM Saturday night during day three of the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Southern Connecticut State University's Hutchinson Natatorium.

Niemiec, who now has four career individual golds, achieved an NCAA B cut with her time of 4:29.12 breaking the school record of 4:30.36 that she set in the same meet a year ago. She won the race by 2.03 seconds over teammate Kate Kaduboski (Dedham, Mass./Dedham HS), a sophomore who finished in 4:31.15. Also in the 400 IM, junior Anne Warren (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron School) was sixth in 4:41.3.

Warren was also seventh in the 100 butterfly, posting a time of 59.74 seconds.

Day three included three third-place finishes for the Falcons, beginning with freshman Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS) off the three-meter diving board (321.40). Senior Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston, Mass./Tahanto Reg. HS) earned a bronze in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.65) and was part of Bentley's 200 free relay team that placed third.

That quartet also included Kaduboski, Niemiec and senior Danielle Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./ Pomperaug HS) with their time of 1:37.55 an improvement on the record that had stood since 2012 by 0.57 seconds. Among those who set the record five years ago was Hellstern's sister Nicole.

Sophomore Brooke Jameson (Bedford, Mass./Bedford HS) finished fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:55.95), and classmate Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/Lubbock HS) was the consolation winner in the 100 back (1:09.91).

In the team standings, Bentley stands in third place with 445 points. Southern Connecticut State is at the top of the list (608) and Assumption College is currently second (552).

The championships will conclude Sunday with prelims getting underway at 9:45 am.
