NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Bentley University junior Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS) captured her second gold medal of the meet and third career individual gold by placing first in the 200 yard individual medley during the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Southern Connecticut State's Hutchinson Natatorium Friday night.

Niemiec outswam her teammate, sophomore Kate Kaduboski (Dedham, Mass./Dedham HS), to win the 200 IM in a school record 2:05.92, breaking the school record she set a year ago by 0.58 seconds and achieving an NCAA "B" cut. Kaduboski finished second in 2:08.12, reaching the wall 2.20 seconds after Niemiec.

Niemiec also made a trip to the medal platform following the 400 medley relay, picking up a silver after teaming with Kaduboski, junior Anne Warren (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron HS) and senior Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston, Mass./Tahanto Reg. HS) for a school-record 3:54.09. That broke a record that had stood since 2011 by 0.73 seconds with the previously mark having included Kaduboski's sister, Anne.

McGahie also swam to a bronze in the 50 freestyle with her time of 24.38 seconds shaving a hundredth of a second off her own school record, set in 2016.

Day two also saw sophomore Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/Lubbock HS) finish fifth in the 500 freestyle in 5:07.04 and classmate Brooke Jameson (Bedford, Mass./Bedford HS) follow in seventh (5:09.62).

On Friday night, Bentley freshman Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS) placed second in the one-meter diving, her score of 351.65 putting her within 9.05 points of champion Alexis Heiney of Pace University.

In the team standings, Bentley will begin Saturday's action in third place with 261 points. Southern Connecticut tops the list with 320, four points better than second-place Assumption College.

Saturday's action will get underway with prelims at 9:45 am.
