Bentley Closes Out Dual Schedule with 11th Straight Win, 171-88 over Merrimack

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and sophomore Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) each won three individual events as the Bentley University women's swimming and diving team ran its winning streak to 11 with a 171-88 win over Merrimack College  Sunday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

Bentley completed its dual schedule with an 11-1 record. McGahie, in the final home meet of her career, turned in winning performances in the 50 yard breaststroke (33.34 seconds), the 100 freestyle (55.95) and the 50 butterfly (28.47). The latter was the closest race of the meet with McGahie edging classmate Nicole Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./ Pomperaug HS) by two-tenths of a second.

McGahie completed her Dana Center career by swimming the fastest leg (25.04) in the 200 free relay, one of only two events Bentley didn't win during the meet.

Kaduboski achieved first-place finishes in the 50 backstroke (28.58), 100 back (1:00.46) and the 200 individual medley (2:13.62). She also swam the opening leg on Bentley's 400 medley relay that placed first in 4:16.42. That quartet also included Hellstern and juniors Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./ Francis T. Maloney HS) and Jess Chen (Darien, Conn./Darien HS).

Niemiec and sophomore Brooke Jameson (Bedford/Bedford HS) both won a pair of individual points. Niemiec's wins came in the 100 butterfly (1:02.93) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.69), and Jameson captured both the 200 free (2:05.08) and the 500 free (5:33.10).

Bentley's other win came in the 1000 free with sophomore Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/ Lubbock HS) posting a time of 11:03.91.

The Falcons will have two-and-a-half weeks to prepare for their next action, the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Southern Connecticut State Feb. 16-19.
