Niemiec & Kaduboski Lead Bentley Women during Day 3 of NE-10 Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS) and freshman Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) were the top performers for the Bentley University women's swimming team during day 3 of the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at WPI Saturday night.

Led by that duo, the Falcons finished the day in third place with a total of 405.5 points. Assumption College is at the top of the leaderboard, with 557.5 points, and Southern Connecticut State follows with 513. The championships conclude on Sunday.

Niemiec finished second in the 400 individual medley with her time of 4:30.36 breaking the school record set by Kaduboski's sister Anne back in 2011 by 1.04 seconds, as well as an NCAA B cut. Kate Kaduboski followed in third place, reaching the wall at 4:33.01.

Kaduboski also placed fourth in the 100 backstroke, putting up a time of 59.31 seconds.

In the 200 freestyle, junior Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and freshman Brooke Jameson (Bedford/Bedford HS) were fifth and sixth, respectively. McGahie achieved a 1:55.33 and Jameson was 0.26 seconds behind her.

In the other individual final contested Saturday, sophomore Anne Warren (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron HS) placed sixth in 59.80 seconds.

Bentley was fifth in the 200 free relay (1:39.78) with McGahie anchoring a quartet that also included senior Lindsey Goodwin (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy), sophomore Jess Chen (Darien, Conn./Darien HS) and freshman Hannah Rauch (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park HS).                                          

The prelims for the three-meter diving were also held on Saturday with seniors Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS), the one-meter champ and a three-time All-America, and Courtney Stone (Andover/Andover HS) placing 1-2. Mancini turned in a 417.85 and Stone followed at 348.05. The finals will be held Sunday night.

Sunday's final day of competition will have the prelims at 10:15 am and the finals at 5:30 pm.
