McGahie & Wilde Gain Weekly Recognition from the Northeast-10

Bentley University sophomore Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) has been named the Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference and her teammate, senior Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS), was again cited as the NE-10 Women's Diver of the Week.

While the award was a first for McGahie, it was the sixth of the season, and seventh of her career, for Wilde.

Also recognized by the conference this week, as the NE-10 Men's Relay Team of the Week, was the Bentley quartet of Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS), Tim Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Acad.), Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS) and Liam Bartlett (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham HS). Bury and Connolly, both juniors, combined with the two sophomores for a winning time of 1:29.06 in the 200 yard freestyle to finish a 140-99 victory over Babson. This is the fifth time this year that the Bentley men have earned the honor.

In a 137-69 win over Babson, McGahie posted victories in both the 200 individual medley (season-best 2:18.12) and the 100 freestyle (56.02). In addition, she posted the fastest leg (25.30) on the Falcons' 200 free relay team that finished second in 1:47.97.

Wilde swept the diving with winning scores of 257.24 from the one-meter board and 248.76 from the three-meter.

Bentley also had three student-athletes selected for the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll: Bury, sophomore Nick Cilia (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS) and freshman Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./ Francis T. Maloney HS).

Niemiec was a triple-winner as she touched first in the 200 freestyle (season-best 2:03.20), the 100 backstroke (1:05.40) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.13). Bury, in addition to his work on the relay, placed first in both the 50 free (season-best 22.23 seconds) and the 100 free (49.39). Cilia was second in both diving events, posting scores of 187.04 from the one-meter board and 169.79 from the three-meter.

Bentley completes its dual schedule Thursday against Bridgewater State, a meet postponed two days by this week's blizzard.
