Nine Falcons Represented in Northeast-10 Weekly Swimming Awards

                WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University was well-represented in this week's Northeast-10 Conference swimming and diving awards with six men and three women receiving accolades.

Senior Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS) and junior Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./ Tolland HS) were cited as the Northeast-10 Diving Athletes of the Week, for the fourth and third times this season, respectively.

Freshman Aiden Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) was the choice for NE-10 Men's Rookie of the Week, and he was also part of the Falcons' 400 yard freestyle relay team that was recognized as the Men's Relay Team of the Week. That quartet also included freshman Jon Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS), sophomore Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS) and junior Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Sr. HS).

In addition, the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll included senior Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./ Danbury HS), junior Tim Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Academy) and sophomore Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS).

Both the Bentley men's and women's teams enjoyed 3-0 weeks with victories over UMass-Dartmouth, Brandeis University and Norwich University.

Bridge was undefeated during the week, met the standard for the NCAA pre-qualification meet for both six and 11 dives in the one meter, and broke the school one-meter record for both six dives (303.00) and 11 dives (517.05) against Brandeis. He had winning scores of 233.77 (one-meter) and 247.87 (three-meter) vs. UMass-Dartmouth, 217.05 and 303.00 (both one meter) against Brandeis, and 162.55 and 240.45 (both one-meter) against Norwich.

Wilde swept the diving events in three meets, including scores of 242.53 in the one-meter and 226.02 in the three-meter against UMass-Dartmouth. She posted combined scores of 439.50 from the one-meter against Brandeis and 380.70 at Norwich.

Karam swam in five events during the week and finished first in every one, including the 50 free (23.14) and 100 free (50.51) against UMass-Dartmouth. At Brandeis, he was victorious in the 200 free (1:49.66) and the 500 free (4:59.15), and also a member of the Falcons' 400 free relay team that won in 3:19.44. Injuries kept him out of the Norwich meet.

McGahie won five of the six individual events she swam and helped the Falcons capture three relays as well. The individual wins were in the 100 breast (UMass-Dartmouth, 1:11.12; Brandeis, 1:11.51), 200 IM (UMD, 2:18.40), 50 free (Brandeis, 25.89) and the 200 free (Norwich, 2:03.01). She was also second in the 100 IM at Brandeis (1:04.00) and part of winning medley relays in all three meets (2:00.63 200 vs. UMD, 1:57.95 200 vs. Brandeis, 4:15.61 400 vs. Norwich).

Edwards was first in the 1000 free (11:20.17) and third in the 100 fly (1:08.09) against UMass-Dartmouth, first in the in 50 free (25.89) and 100 breast (1:11.51) at Brandeis, and first in the 200 free (2:03.01) and second in the 100 IM (1:04.00) at Norwich. She also helped Bentley win the medley relay in all three meets.

Boains won the 200 free twice (1:52.37 vs. UMass-Dartmouth, 1:50.57 at Norwich) and the 500 free at Norwich (5:10.61). He was also second in the 100 free against both UMass-Dartmouth (51.08) and Brandeis (50.64), third in the 100 breast vs. UMD (1:06.88) and fifth in 200 free against Brandeis (1:53.05). In addition, Boains helped Bentley win 400 free relay at Brandeis (3:19.44) and to a 2nd in the 200 free relay at Norwich (1:32.81). The 400 relay time has been bettered in the NE-10 only once all season.

Connolly's week saw him record three firsts, one second and one fifth in individual events with the wins coming in the 500 freestyle vs. UMass-Dartmouth (5:15.60), 100 backstroke at Brandeis (56.06) and 100 free at Norwich (50.11). He also helped Bentley win two relays (200 medley vs. UMass-Dartmouth, 1:42.73; 400 medley vs. Norwich, 3:49.85) and finish second in another.
