Le Named Honorable Mention Scholar All-America; Bentley Swim Teams Honored for Academic Excellence

WALTHAM, Mass. – Former Bentley University swimmer Amanda Le (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) was named an honorable mention Scholar All-America by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). It's the third straight year that she has earned the distinction.

The Honorable Mention Scholar All-America Awards are presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester, or cumulative average, and have achieved a "B" time standard but did not qualify or compete in their respective national championship.

Le, a graduate student during the 2013-14 academic year, achieved "B" cuts twice during the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, with times of 1:05.92 in the 100 yard breaststroke and 2:21.94 in the 200 breast.

Le, a two-time Academic All-Northeast-10 selection, finished her career as Bentley's school record-holder in both the 200 individual medley (2:09.07) and the 200 breast (2:21.76). She was a gold medal winner in the 200 IM at the NE-10 championships and also finished second in both the 100 and 200 breast.

Le earned a 3.87 GPA as a corporate finance and accounting major and has since been pursuing a Master's of Science in accountancy.

The Bentley men's and women's swimming and diving teams both received Scholar All-America Team Awards from the CSCAA for their academic performance during the spring semester. The Falcons, coached by Mary Kay Samko, were one of only 32 Division II programs across the country to have both teams recognized.

The women's team had a 3.27 grade point average during the spring, and the men's team was right at 3.00.

Both Bentley teams excelled in the pool as well as in the classroom this past year. The women's squad had a 9-2 dual record and finished third in the Northeast-10 Championships while the men were second in the NE-10's after a 7-4 dual season.
