NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bentley University tandem of senior Amanda Le (Chelmsford, Mass./ Chelmsford HS) and sophomore Meg Pernsteiner (Highland Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) finished 1-2 in the 200 yard individual medley during the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Southern Connecticut State's Hutchison Natatorium Friday night.

Le earned gold in 2:09.07, improving on the school record set by Jessica Hodsdon at the 2011 NCAA Championships by 0.67 seconds, and Pernsteiner was next to the wall, finishing in 2:10.24 for silver.

Freshman Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston, Mass./Tahanto Reg. HS) twice flirted with the school record in the 50 freestyle while placing fifth overall. Her time of 24.75 seconds in the prelims was three-hundredths of a second off the existing mark and she swam to a 24.78 in the finals, missing by .05.

McGahie was also part of Bentley's 400 medley relay that placed fifth in 4:00.85 with that quartet also including Le, senior Caroline Lewis (Westfield, Mass./Westfield HS) and sophomore Melissa Clauss (Oakland, N.J./Bergen County Academies).

In the 500 free, junior Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) was eighth in 5:21.29.

In the prelims of the three-meter diving, sophomore All-America and three-time NE-10 gold medalist Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) finished first with a score of 428.90, 24.95 better than Southern Connecticut's Jessica Ronzo and 34.95 in front of Pace's Jennifer Paladino. Mancini scored at least 40 points on five of her 11 dives, with a high of 48.75.

Also qualifying for Saturday night's finals was junior Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS), who was seventh with a 338.55.

Bentley finished the second of the four-day championship in second place, 67 points back of first-place Assumption College with a 241 total. Right behind the Falcons are Southern Connecticut (232), Pace University (220) and The College of Saint Rose (214).

Action continues Saturday with prelims at 10 am and finals at 6 pm.
