Bentley Swims Past St. Michael's with Le a Triple-Winner

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Amanda Le (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) won three individual events and was part of the Falcons' 400 yard medley relay team, powering the Bentley University Falcons to a 191-86 win over St. Michael's College in women's college swimming action Wednesday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

Le, named the Northeast-10 Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week earlier in the day, helped stake Bentley to an early lead by combining with freshman Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and sophomores Meg Pernsteiner (Highland Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) and Melissa Clauss (Oakland, N.J./Bergen County Academies) for a win in the meet's opening relay. Their time of 4:14.55 was the Falcons' fastest of the season.

Le also recorded Bentley's fastest times of the year while finishing first in the 50 breaststroke (32.29) and the 200 breast (2:28.40). Her afternoon also included a winning time of 2:16.92 in the 200 individual medley.

Clauss and McGahie were both double-winners, as was sophomore All-America diver Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS).

Clauss captured the two butterfly races with times of 28.37 seconds in the 50 and 2:24.21, a team season-best, in the 200. McGahie swam to victory in the 50 freestyle (25.60) and the 100 free (56.65).  Mancini remained unbeaten for the year after posting scores of 202.80 and 281.69 in the two one-meter diving events.

Rounding out the list of first-place efforts for Bentley was junior Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS), with a time of 11:41.67 in the 1000 free.

Bentley, with its sixth straight win, improved to 6-1 on the season. The next meet is Sunday when the Falcons will host Saint Rose in the final home meet of the year.
