Goodwin Claims Three Events as Bentley Wins 3rd Straight, 184-105 over UMass-Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Sophomore Lindsey Goodwin (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) won three individual events and was part of the winning 400 free relay team as Bentley University put away UMass-Dartmouth, 184-105, in women's college swimming at UMass-Dartmouth Saturday afternoon.

Bentley, which took first in 15 of 16 events, improved to 3-1 on the year with its third consecutive victory.

Goodwin was the first to touch in the 200 free (2:04.28), the 50 free (26.68) and the 50 butterfly (28.75) before helping the relay finish in 3:59.03. That relay also included senior Heather Exley (Oceanside, Calif./Vista HS) and freshmen Nicole Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) and Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS).  The latter two were also part of Bentley's winning 400 medley relay, along with sophomores Kelly Culkin (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and Meg Pernsteiner (Highland Heights, Ohio/Hawken School).

Exley, McGahie and Culkin were both double-winners, as was sophomore All-America diver Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS). McGahie finished first in the 100 backstroke (1:13.24) and the 100 free (57.34), and Culkin prevailed in the 100 fly (1:04.66) and the 500 free (5:36.00). Exley's wins came in the 1000 free (11:36.22) and the 200 breaststroke (2:38.62), and Mancini's winning scores were 227.00 (one meter) and 261.20 (three meter).

Rounding out the list of winners were Pernsteiner in the 200 back (2:18.78) and senior Caroline Lewis (Westfield/Westfield HS) in the 100 individual medley (1:09.42).

Bentley's next meet is Friday night at home against Brandeis University.
