Record-Setting Day by Mancini & Strong Effort by Pernsteiner Leads Bentley to Win at Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y.  – Sophomore All-America Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) met the NCAA Division II qualifying standard with a record-setting performance and classmate Meg Pernsteiner (Highland Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) won three individual events as Bentley University rolled to a 197-93 win at Le Moyne College in women's college swimming Saturday afternoon at the Rev. Vincent Ryan Pool

Mancini captured both one-meter diving events with a combined score of 492.50. That shattered the existing pool record (436.95) and broke the Bentley record of 461.55, set by Abby Mathews back in January.

Pernsteiner was first to the wall in the 100 yard backstroke (1:04.46), the 200 back (2:18.84) and the 200 individual medley (2:20.55) after helping the Falcons open the meet with a winning effort in the 200 medley relay (1:57.07).

That relay also included senior Heather Exley (Oceanside, Calif./Vista HS), sophomore Melissa Clauss (Oakland, N.J./Bergen County Academies) and freshman Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston, Mass./ Tahanto Reg. HS).

Each of those three found success individually as well. Exley finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.27) and the 200 breast (2:39.04) and Clauss was also a double-winner, capturing the 200 butterfly (2:24.23) and the 100 fly (1:03.48). McCahie prevailed in the 50 freestyle (25.80) and was part of Bentley's winning 200 free relay team, as was Clauss.

Bentley, 1-1 on the year, will host Roger Williams University Friday afternoon at 3 pm.
