BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two days after earning All-America honors off the one-meter board, Bentley University freshman Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) finished 13th out of 20 in the preliminaries of the three-meter diving at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at the CrossPlex Complex.

Mancini posted a score of 403.45, missing out on a berth in the finals by 17.20 points and five places in the standings. Her average score during the meet was 6.15, which ranked eighth overall.

Mancini's highest scoring dive was her second one of the afternoon, a forward two-and-a-half somersault pike which resulted in 50.40 points and put her in the top eight at the end of the round for the only time all day.

The two-time Northeast-10 champion also came up with 45.60 points on a back one-and-a-half somersault with a one-and-a-half twist and 42.00 on her first dive, a back one-and-a-half somersault straight.

Paige Kortman of Wayne State (Mich.), the one-meter champion, was the number one qualifier with a 493.95, just 0.35 points better than Kristin Day of California (Pa.).

Bentley finishes 25th in the championships, with a total of 25 points. That was second best amongst Northeast-10 teams, trailing only Southern Connecticut State.
