Hodsdon Breaks School Record at NCAA Championships

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. -- Bentley University sophomore Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/ Brewer HS) regained the school record in the 200 yard individual medley while competing during day one of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Palo Alto Natatorium Wednesday morning.

In her NCAA championship debut, Hodsdon finished 33rd in the event after beginning with the 47th best seed time. Her time of 2:09.74 bettered the school record that teammate Erin Campbell set at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships last month by 1.3 seconds. Hodsdon had previously held the record of 2:11.44 for two weeks last month.

Hodson opened with a 26.81 split in the butterfly, recorded a time of 34.87 seconds in the back, posted a 36.79 in the breaststroke and finished with a 31.27 in the freestyle. Only seven of the 51 participants had a better butterfly time.

Later in the meet, Hodsdon is scheduled to compete in the 100 breaststroke on Friday and the 200 breast on Saturday.
