Two Relay Wins Help Bentley Take Early Lead in Northeast-10 Invitational

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Bentley University women's swim team captured both relays Saturday night to take the lead after the first of three sessions in the Northeast-10 Invitational, being contested at Bentley's Dana Center pool.

Bentley, with 256 points, leads second-place Southern Connecticut State by 10. Assumption College is third with 196, and the rest of the field includes Pace University (176), the College of Saint Rose (153) and St. Michael's College (124).

Sophomores Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/Brewer HS) and Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) were part of both winning relays. They combined with freshmen Jae Shin (Lancester/Nashoba Reg. HS) and Kellen Power (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS) to take the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:40.53. Later, they partnered with senior Anne Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) and sophomore Taryn Dooley (Feeding Hills/Agawam HS) for a winning effort of 4:02.28 in the 400 medley. Both times set new pool records.

Bentley's highest individual finishes came in the one-meter diving with senior Emily Travers (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS) and sophomore Shelly D'Aleo (Enfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) taking second and third respectively. Travers posted a score of 224.75, besting her teammate by 1.65 seconds.

Bentley had a pair of fourth-place finishes during the opening session of the meet, Hodsdon in the 200 individual medley and junior Susie Boretti (Westford/Westford Academy) in the 1650 freestyle (18:43.32).

The invitational concludes Sunday with sessions at 9 am and 3 pm.
