McGrath Scores Late in Bentley’s 1-0 Win at AIC

Springfield, Mass. – Sophomore Emily McGrath (Brewster, Mass./Nauset) scored in the 88th minute to lift the Bentley women's soccer team to a 1-0 road victory over AIC on Saturday afternoon.

The win is the second straight for the Falcons, both by 1-0 scores, and improved their records to 4-5 NE10 and 5-6-1 overall. Bentley has 12 points in the NE10 standings with four conference matches left.

McGrath's goal broke a scoreless deadlock with just over two minutes left in regulation. Emma Guccione (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) made a steal near the center of the field and proceeded to run down the right wing on a fast break, with both Kelly Donlon (Meriden, Conn./Francis Maloney) and McGrath sprinting down the field in support.

Guccione centered a pass that McGrath got on the end of near the goal, took one touch and fired a shot low and to the near post for the goal.

Her first of the season turned out to be the game winner. Guccione's assist was her 3rd of the year.

Falcons keeper Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) made nine saves to earn the win in goal, her 5th of the season.

Bentley will look for a third straight win and continue its playoff push on Tuesday when they host Southern New Hampshire. That match kicks off at 3:00 pm.
