Burns Scores Twice but Bentley Falls to Franklin Pierce in Overtime 3-2

Rindge, N.H. – Junior Marissa Burns (Hudson, N.H./Bishop Guertin) scored two first half goals for Bentley, but Franklin Pierce rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Falcons on Saturday night.

Burns scored twice in the first half, in the 9th and 27th minutes, to give Bentley a 2-0 lead. That lead stood up well into the second half until the Ravens staged a late comeback with goals in the 77th and 84th minutes to force overtime.

In overtime, midfielder Tess McKenzie scored 6:18 in to give the Ravens the win.

Burns' first goal came after a centering pass from the right by junior Emma Guccione (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) setup Burns for the finish, and a 1-0 lead for Bentley in the 9th minute.

Burns doubled Bentley's lead in the 27th minute. An initial shot on goal by freshman Liliana Silva (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) was saved, but Burns was there to score off the rebound to the far post.

The lead stood up deep into the second half until midfielder Gabi Pereira scored off a free kick in the 77th minute and midfielder Jessica Magerman scored off a rebound in the 84th to tie the game.

Bentley's Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) made nine saves on the night.

The Falcons (3-5-1, 2-4-0 NE10) will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they visit Stonehill for a 3:00 pm kickoff.
