Bentley, Saint Michael’s Battle to 1-1 Draw in Vermont

Colchester, Vt. – Bentley and Saint Michael's battled to a 1-1 draw up in Vermont on Saturday in a Northeast-10 matchup. Junior midfielder McKenna Hiller (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe) was the goal scorer for the Falcons.

Hiller put Bentley in front in the 33rd minute, when she headed in a cross that came in from the left wing from junior Sammy Millmann (Northport, N.Y./Northport).

The lead stood up most of the way, but the hosts tied it with just over five minutes remaining. Midfielder Emily Durette was the goal scorer, after she received a through ball from teammate Victoria  Zambello to set off a breakaway.

20 minutes of overtime wasn't enough to settle it, though Bentley created far more scoring chances. Senior Alyssa Valente (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) had two shots on goal in the first overtime period, and in the second overtime period Millmann and Kelly Donlon (Meriden, Conn.) each had shots on goal saved.

Bentley goalkeeper Renee Perkins (Nantucket, Mass./Lawrence Academy) also came up with a key stop in the 2nd OT period.

After their trip to Vermont, the Falcons (2-3-3, 1-3-2 NE10) are back at home on Tuesday to host Franklin Pierce.
