Waltham, Mass. – Two first half goals helped see 18^th ranked Adelphi to a 2-0 victory over the Bentley women's soccer team on Thursday afternoon.

The Panthers, who stayed unbeaten on the season at 5-0 with the victory, scored just over three minutes apart in the first half to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Bentley though produced a strong showing in the second half and had several good scoring chances, but could not put one past Adelphi keeper Sarah Hofmeier. Bentley goalie Renee Perkins (Nantucket, Mass./Lawrence Academy) also came up with several good saves in the second half.

Adelphi's first goal came from midfielder Madison Raposo in the 23^rd minute. The goal was setup by forward Kerianne Scorce with a run down the left wing and a cross into the six yard box that Raposo finished to the far post.

Scorce then scored herself just over three minutes later with a shot from 12 yards away, after a header won by Jacklyn Lada set her off for a breakaway.

Bentley though came out strong in the second half with a majority of possession, which turned into five shots on goal. The best opportunity came from junior McKenna Miller (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe) in the 84^th minute, who had a shot from long distance just tipped over the bar by Hofmeier. Alyssa Valente (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) had two shots on goal saved just minutes apart early in the half, and Chloe Gizzi (Peabody, Mass./Peabody) and Stephanie Helin (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic) also had scoring chances.

Perkins finished the game with six saves, as did Hofmeier.

Bentley, now 2-2-2 on the season, is off until Sept. 26 when they host Saint Anselm.
