Bentley and Merrimack Draw 1-1; Falcons Keep Unbeaten Start to Season

North Andover, Mass. – Northeast-10 rivals Bentley and Merrimack played to a 1-1 tie Tuesday night to keep the Falcons' record unbeaten on the season at 2-0-2. Freshman Amanda Andriano (Nesconset, N.Y./St. Anthony's) had the goal for the Falcons.

After a scoreless first half, Merrimack scored the game's first goal in the 56th minute, with defender Meghan Blacnhette scoring in the 56th minute after finishing a cross from the right wing.

Bentley though answered in the 71st minute with the goal coming from Andriano. Sophomore Megan Doubleday (Wolcott, Conn./Wolcott) had the assist.

Neither team could find the back of the net in overtime. Bentley goalie Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) shined in OT to keep the match tied with four saves, three of which came in the second OT period. She finished the night with seven saves.

Bentley had a 9-8 edge in shots on goal for the night, with McKenna Hiller (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe), Brandi McDonald (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater) and Alyssa Valente (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) with two each.

After tonight's game, Bentley will be back on the field on Saturday at Assumption.
