Macrorie Earns 2nd Goalkeeper of the Week Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester/Winchester HS) earned her second Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week Award of the season, the conference announced on Monday. Macrorie made 14 total saves in a 1-0-1 week for the Falcons.

Macrorie helped Bentley maintain its unbeaten record to the season last week, which now stands at 5-0-2, after a 1-1 draw with Saint Anselm and a 2-0 victory at New Haven.

The junior keeper made a season-high eight saves in the draw with the Hawks. She followed that up with six saves as the Falcons traveled down to New Haven on Saturday and came away with the win. Five of her saves came in the first half, which kept the match scoreless until late goals in the 2nd half by Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) and Alyssa Valente (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan HS) saw Bentley emerge victorious.

On the season, Macrorie is 2nd in the NE-10 in save percentage (.868), 3rd in goals against average (0.67) and 5th in total saves (33). It's the 2nd time this season she has been named Goalkeeper of the Week. She earned the award on Sept. 6 after helping Bentley to a season-opening sweep of the Kickoff Classic. It is also her 4th career Goalkeeper of the Week Award, with the one each in her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Bentley's next match is Wednesday night at Southern New Hampshire.
