McDonald Scores Late in Bentley’s 1-1 Tie with Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Brandi McDonald (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater) scored in the 89th minute as Bentley University tied with Pace 1-1 on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 women's soccer. The result keeps the Falcons' unbeaten start to the season going at 4-0-1, and 1-0-1 in NE-10 matches.

With the Setters leading 1-0 late in regulation, McDonald fired in her 2nd goal in as many matches to get Bentley level. Her shot from the far right wing beat the Pace goalie to the far post to knot the match 1-1 and send it to overtime.

In overtime both teams had a shot on goal that required saves. In the 91st minute Pace's Emma Sinanan had a shot saved by Bentley keeper Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester, Mass./Winchester HS), while in the 105th minute Bentley's Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) had her drive on net from the right wing saved by the Pace keeper Aisha Chauhan.

As neither team could find the back of the net the match ended 1-1, to extend Bentley's longest ever unbeaten start to a season at five.

Macrorie made six saves on the day, as her personal record on the season went to 4-0-1.

Bentley's next match is its home opener after five matches, and it comes Tuesday against Saint Anselm at 3:30.
