Four Seniors to Serve as Bentley Women’s Soccer Captain

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four seniors will serve as captains of the Bentley women's soccer team this season, head coach Lauren Lukis has announced; center back Haley Story (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge), goalkeeper Paige Laliberte (Gilford, N.H./Gilford), forward Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) and midfielder Jenny Lewis (Potomac, Md.,/Winston Churchill).

Said Lukis, "let me start by recognizing the effort and dedication of the entire senior class. They set high and achievable, winning standards for this program. I'm confident in the team's decision to select Haley, Ana, Jenny and Paige as our team captains.  These captains will be a strong source of leadership to represent the program, be a voice for off and on the field and lead us to success.

Story has been a constant in Lukis' lineup since stepping on campus as a freshman. She has started all but two matches the Falcons have played over the last three years, with her name in the starting 11 in 48 out of 50 matches during that time. Last season she started all 17 matches and helped lead Bentley's back line.

Laliberte has been a valuable goalkeeper for Bentley during her three seasons, turning in several key performances. Last season she guided the Falcons to a 4-3 win over Southern Connecticut in the final match of the regular season. She has also helped the team to wins over Molloy and Dowling during her career.

Tantum is coming off a stellar junior season that saw her named 2nd team All-Northeast 10 as a forward. She led the team in goals (8), assists (4) and points (20), and ranked in the top-10 of the NE-10 in both points (T-8th) and goals (T-9th). Tantum enters the 2016 season T-9th in the program's history with 43 career points.

Lewis has also been a big presence in Lukis' lineups during her Bentley career. She's played in 48 of the team's 50 matches and has started 30 of those. Last season she played in all 17 contests and started a career-high 15 times. She also netted three goals, including two goals in Bentley's 8-0 defeat of Concordia in the team's home-opener.

Bentley gets its season started on Friday, September 2 vs. Dominican (NY) at the Kickoff Classic in North Andover.
