Valente Sends Bentley to 2-1 OT Win on Senior Day

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Alyssa Valente (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) scored the winning goal in the 109th minute to deliver a 2-1 victory for Bentley over Saint Michael's in double overtime on Senior Day.

Midfielder Jenny Lewis (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) got the play started by winning the ball after a Saint Michael's goal kick, and played a through ball into the penalty area. Forward Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) chased it down before it went out, and she played a cross into the six yard box. Valente ran on to it and drilled it home to send Bentley home winners with just two minutes remaining.

The goal was Valente's 3rd of the season, while Tantum notched her 3rd assist of the year and 19th point.

Earlier in the match, Bentley jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on a goal by junior Anna Siefring (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) off a corner kick. The kick was delivered by midfielder Elena Ochsenreither (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) from the right corner, and Siefring got on the end of it, nodding it into the far post to give Bentley the lead.

Just after halftime, Saint Michael's knotted the match at 1-1 when senior Meagan Brady scored her team leading 6th goal of the season in the 47th minute.

Bentley goalkeeper Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) made six saves to earn the win.

Prior to the match, Ochsenreither and midfielder Sam Ford (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) were honored for their contributions to the program on Senior Day. Ford played in 103 of 108 minutes today, while Ochsenreither was in for 105 minutes and had the assist on Siefring's goal.

With just two matches left in the regular season now, Bentley is back on the pitch on Wednesday night when they visit AIC.
