Franklin Pierce Slips Past Bentley 3-2

RINDGE, N.H. – Despite goals by freshmen Alyssa Valente (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and Carly Kohler (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip), Bentley came up just short at Franklin Pierce Saturday night, suffering a 3-2 defeat.

After a scoreless first half, the goals came quickly in the second half. The Ravens took a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute, but Valente equalized in the 65th minute with her second goal of the season. After making a run down the right wing, she finished with a shot to the bottom left corner of the net for an unassisted goal.

Just 11 seconds later after the restart, Franklin Pierce went back ahead with a goal by midfielder Saya Kato off a rebound. It was then 3-1 when forward Yasmin Civin scored her second of the game in the 69tt minute.

Kohler's goal got Bentley back in it with a strike in the 74th minute, with the assist going to Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull), making the deficit just 3-2. The goal was Kohler's first of the season.

However that's as close as Bentley could get as Franklin Pierce hung on over the final 16 minutes.

With its three match road trip wrapped up, Bentley (3-6-2, 1-6-1 NE-10) returns home on Wednesday to face Merrimack.
