So. New Hampshire Slips Past Bentley in Double Overtime

WALTHAM, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire's Olivia Parsons scored a header goal in the 106th minute to give the Penmen a 1-0 victory over the Bentley women's soccer team in a Northeast-10 match on Thursday.

Forward Alexa Poulin set the goal up with a corner kick from the left corner. After the kick was swung in, Parsons got her head on it and nodded it just inside the near post to give the Penmen the win with less than four minutes remaining.

Bentley started the first overtime with a good scoring chance, from freshman Alyssa Valente (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), after she struck a shot from the right wing, only to be denied by Southern keeper Autumn Scanlon.

Bentley keeper Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) came up with several important saves throughout the match. She denied midfielder's Nerida Montrond effort late in the 2nd half, and stopped a shot by forward Gabby Cappello that was bound for goal early in the 2nd OT. She ended the day with five saves

Aside from Valente's shot, Sam Ford (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side), Jenny Lewis (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and Brandi McDonald (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater) had shots on goal for the Falcons.

Bentley (2-4-2, 0-4-1) now starts a three match road trip, that will first take them to Adelphi on Saturday for a 3:00 pm match.
