Bentley Draws with Molloy 0-0 in Season Opener

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Bentley women's soccer team and Molloy battled to a 0-0 draw Friday night in the season opening game for both teams at the Molloy Kickoff Tournament. Sophomore goalie Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) made four saves and freshman Christine Hoynack (Miami, Fla./Lourdes Academy) had a team high two shots on goal for the Falcons.

The teams tied 12-12 in total shots on goal, but Bentley put six on net to Molloy's four, only for Lions keeper Gabrielle Batista to stop all of them.

Bentley had three shots on goal in the second half. Macrorie came up big for them in the final minutes with two saves, one in the 87th minute and another in the 90th to send the match to extra time.

The Falcons had a 12-7 advantage in shots in the first 90 minutes, but the Lions put the pressure on in overtime with five total shots, two of which were denied by Macrorie.

Molloy had the final scoring chance with a corner kick in the 107th minute, but came up empty.

Bentley will conclude the Kickoff Tournament on Sunday when they take on Dowling at 11:00 am.
