McAllister's Goal Helps Bentley Tie So. New Hampshire 1-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Patty McAllister (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) scored in the 75th minute to help the Bentley women's soccer team earn a 1-1 draw with Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday in a Northeast-10 encounter.

McAllister's goal came after a Southern New Hampshire foul gave Bentley a free kick in a dangerous area, 25 yards from goal on the right corner of the penalty box. McAllister stepped up and drilled the kick into the lower left corner of the net past the goalkeeper's outstretched arms to tie the match up.

Southern New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in just the fourth minute on a goal by senior Ashley Jaskula, her fourth of the season. Jaskula dribbled into the box and got a shot off from 10 yards for the early goal.

Junior goalie Nicole Derba (Franklin, Mass./Fontbonne Academy) got the start in goal for Bentley and prevented the Penmen from adding to their lead with seven saves on the afternoon.

Southern had the only shot on goal in overtime, a shot by sophomore Morgan Branco in the 95th minute that was saved by Derba.

The tie moves Bentley's record to 2-6-2 overall and 1-5-2 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen go to 4-4-3 and 1-3-3. The Falcons' next match is Saturday at Adelphi at 1:00 pm.
