Hynds Makes 16 Saves but Bentley Falls at No. 8 AIC 2-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior goalie Christiana Hynds (West Roxbury, Mass./Boston Latin) made a career-high 16 saves, but No. 8 AIC used a goal in each half to edge the Bentley women's soccer team 2-0 in a Northeast-10 encounter Saturday afternoon.

Hynds bested her previous career-high by one, set during her freshman season in 2011 against Franklin Pierce. She made nine saves in the first half and seven in the second on this day.

AIC, which remained unbeaten on the season at 7-0 and 5-0 in NE-10, scored its first in the 11th minute on a goal by senior Roxy Lee-Stewart. A header by junior Sonia Basma hit the crossbar and rebounded to Lee-Stewart for her first goal of the season.

Bentley held firm defensively until deep into the second half, but without being able to create many scoring chances, AIC still held a 1-0 lead. After being held without a shot in the first half, Bentley put three on AIC keeper Sam Tabak in the second 45 minutes.

Senior Caroline Boyce scored an insurance goal for AIC in the 84th minute off another rebound. This time a header by Stewart that hit the post set the goal up, Boyce's sixth of the season.

The Falcons, who were victorious in their last game out against Saint Michael's on Wednesday 2-0, drop to 2-5 on the season and 1-4 in NE-10 play. Their next match is Wednesday night on the road against Franklin Pierce.
