Muise Scores in Third Straight as Bentley Tops UMass-Lowell 1-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior forward Laura Muise (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) scored for the third straight game as Bentley University got the better of Northeast-10 rival UMass-Lowell 1-0 in women's soccer on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.

Muise's goal was an 18 yard strike from the top of the penalty area that beat UML keeper Jill Carlson upper left, giving Bentley a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.

From there, sophomore goalie Christiana Hynds (West Roxbury, Mass./Boston Latin) and the Bentley defense, led by the likes of juniors Jenna Skagerlind (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) and Kelsey Regan (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) made the goal stand up.

Hynds made eight saves, her fourth game this season with at least eight. Her best save of the day had her diving to her left to deny a shot by Lowell's Taylor Hartmann in the 64th minute.

Skagerlind, Regan and senior Amy Margolius (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) put in strong shifts at the back to help preserve Bentley's lead throughout. Regan and Margolius played the entire match and Skagerlind played about 82 minutes..

The win improves Bentley's record to 4-6-2 overall and 2-6-2 in the NE-10. The River Hawks drop to 4-6-2 and 3-6-1. The Falcons' next match is Saturday at Assumption with first kick scheduled for 1:00 pm.
