Women's Soccer Wins Second Straight, 3-1 over Dominican (N.Y.)

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Bentley women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 3-1 non-conference victory over Dominican (N.Y.) on Wednesday afternoon. Late goals by Molly Alfieri (Southington, Conn./Southington) and Michaela Stephenson (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) were the difference.

With the match tied at one in the latter stages, Alfieri scored off a rebound in the 83rd minute to put Bentley in front 2-1 after trailing 1-0 in the first half. Less than two minutes later Stephenson netted an unassisted goal, the first of her career, to give the Falcons a comfortable 3-1 lead.

The hosts Dominican scored the match's first goal in the 43rd minute on a penalty kick by junior Olivia Antonopoulos after the first half was scoreless to that point. After the halftime break though Bentley wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as junior Sydney Spiegel (South Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) scored off a corner kick from junior Kelsey Regan (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) in the 52nd minute.

Sophomore goalie Christiana Hynds (West Roxbury, Mass./Boston Latin) made five saves to pick up her second win. The Chargers fall to 0-2 with the loss.

Bentley is back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Le Moyne in the Northeast-10 opener.
