Bentley Tops Southern Conn 15-8 on Senior Day for 4th Straight Win

Waltham, Mass. – No. 19 ranked Bentley won its 4th straight game on Saturday afternoon with a 15-8 Senior Day victory over visiting Southern Connecticut State. Sophomore Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) surpassed the 100 career points milestone in the win.

Glavin had three goals and two assists on the day to surpass 100 points for her career, in just her 25th game played. Freshman Caroline Boudreau (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) also had three goals, and junior goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) made 15 saves to earn her 8th win of the season.

Bentley overcame an early 2-0 deficit, and trailed 3-2 after a man-up goal by Southern's Karlie Rowe at 15:28. But from that point they went on a 6-0 run to charge in front for good. Cara McCarthy (Salem N. H./Central Catholic) scored just 12 seconds after Rowe's goal to tie the game. The next seven minutes went scoreless, but Bentley then reeled off five unanswered over a seven minute span. Freshman Christine Fish (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) bookended the spurt, and goals in between came from Jillian Lynch (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), MaryKate Staines (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) and Glavin. Fish's goal at 1:10 was a man-down and made it 8-3 for Bentley.

Lynch started the 2nd half with a man-up goal 39 seconds in, and Glavin scored at 28:17 for her 100th point and a 10-4 lead.

Boudreau and Sandrine Heller (Weggis, Switzerland) followed with goals for a 4-0 run to start the half and a 12-4 lead just under eight minutes into the half.

Prior to the game, seniors Staines and Jillian Keegan (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills) were honored on Senior Day for their contributions to the women's lacrosse program.

Bentley improved to 8-1 overall and 6-1 NE10 with the win, while the Owls dropped to 2-11. They'll look for a 5th straight win Wednesday night at Adelphi.
