Rindge, N.H. – No. 19 ranked Bentley used a big second half performance to claim a 14-10 road win over NE10 rival Franklin Pierce on Wednesday night.

The game was tied 8-8 early in the 2nd half after a Franklin Pierce goal 37 seconds into the half. But from that point forward, the Falcons outscored their hosts 6-2. Bentley improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 NE10 on the season, while the Ravens dropped to 5-3 and 2-3 NE10.

Sophomore Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) had Bentley's first goal of the second half at the 27:01 mark, which was followed by two straight goals by sophomore Cara McCarthy (Salem N.H./Central Catholic) to put them ahead 11-8 with 21:00 minutes remaining.

Franklin Pierce pulled a goal back a minute later, but that would be its final goal for more than 19 minutes. Bentley pulled away in between then, with man-up goals by McCarthy and Caroline Boudreau (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) just 17 seconds apart at the 13:02 and 12:45 marks. Sophomore Sandrine Heller (Weggis, Switzerland) netted Bentley's final goal of the night with 9:40 left for a 14-9 lead.

The first half was made of runs by both teams. Bentley started the game with a 4-0 run to take an early lead after eight minutes played. After the teams traded goals, Franklin Pierce went on a 6-0 run to go ahead 7-5 with just under four minutes left in the half. But the Falcons closed the half strong on a 3-0 run over the final three minutes to lead 8-7. The goals came from Boudreau, Eliza Crane (Woodbridge, Conn./Amity) and McCarthy.

Goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) made 15 saves to earn her 5th win of the season. McCarthy had six goals, her second game this season with that many.

Next up for Bentley is a home game against Saint Anselm on Saturday at noon.
