Keegan, Staines and Bresler to Serve as Bentley Women’s Lacrosse Captains

Waltham, Mass. – Seniors Jillian Keegan (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) and MaryKate Staines (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) and junior Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) will be the captains of the Bentley women's lacrosse team for the 2019 season.

Said second year head coach Taylor Bastien in making the announcement, "as seniors, Staines and Keegan have put the work in each year and are looking forward to leading this team and leaving their mark on the program. Bresler will be the voice of our backline and look to build off a stellar sophomore season and command the squad in net," she continued. "All three captains bring a unique set of experiences and qualities that will help steer us through the ebb and flows of the 2019 season.

Keegan and Staines have both been three-year contributors to the women's lacrosse program. Keegan has played in 30 games as a defensive player with 15 starts, while Staines was the team's second leading scorer last season with 40 points, on 25 goals and 15 assists, all career highs.

Bresler started all 16 games in goal last season, and was named both second team IWLCA All-East Region and second team All-Northeast-10.

All three will help lead Bentley into the new season, which gets underway in just over two weeks when they visit AIC on Feb. 27.

The team was voted 23rd in the IWLCA's Preseason Coaches Poll, and was picked 7th in the NE10 Preseason Poll. The NE10 had six teams ranked in the IWLCA's poll.
