WALTHAM, Mass. – In another matchup of top 20 teams for Bentley, visiting New Haven held on late down the stretch to clip the Falcons 9-8 on Wednesday.

Bentley entered the game ranked 19^th nationally and the Chargers 20^th, which marked the fifth straight game the Falcons had played against a ranked team. Both teams came into the night with 7-4 Northeast-10 records.

The Falcons trailed 8-5 midway through the second half, but two goals from freshman Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich), at 12:00 and 7:08, cut the deficit to 8-7.

The second goal of that run, a man-up goal assisted by MaryKate Staines (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus), marked the last goal scored for more than five minutes. The Chargers though got the next goal off the stick of Samantha Galler at the 1:56 mark to take a 9-7 lead.

Bentley's Carolyn Cruise (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) won the ensuing draw control, and they peppered New Haven's net with five shots during the possession as time ticked away. After a yellow card on New Haven, Cruise scored on a free-position shot with 12 seconds left to get the Falcons to within 9-8.

Senior Emily De Marinis (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) won the next draw control in Bentley's end, but there wasn't enough time to get down the field and the Chargers held on for the victory.

In the first half, Bentley jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Glavin and Staines, but the Chargers ended up leading 5-3 at halftime. Senior Paige O'Neill (Amityville, N.Y./St. John) also had a first half goal for Bentley.

Glavin had a game high four goals, which took her total to 40 on the season.

Bentley will now close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Southern New Hampshire for a 12:00 game.
