Bentley Runs Past AIC 17-12

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) had five goals and senior Carolyn Cruise (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) scored four to lead the Bentley women's lacrosse team past AIC 17-12 on Saturday in the team's Northeast-10 opener.

Bentley led 6-0 after less than six minutes, and never looked back to improve its record to 2-1 on the season.

Freshman Jillian Lynch (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) had two goals during the opening run, while Glavin, Cruise and MaryKate Staines (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) each scored once.

Bentley led 11-5 after the first half and was continued to pull away in the second half. They scored three of the first four goals of the half, with two coming from Cruise, to open up a 14-6 lead less than five minutes into the half.

Freshman Cara McCarthy (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic) scored consecutive goals at the 21:43 and 20:23 marks, while Glavin also scored at the 16:00 mark.

Goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) made nine saves to earn the win.

Bentley will be back in action on Tuesday night when they visit Assumption.
