Bentley Set for Northeast-10 Playoff Showdown with Adelphi

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley has earned the No. 7 seed in the Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse Championship, and will face the No. 2 seed Adelphi in the quarterfinals on Wednesday in Garden City, N.Y. The game can be seen live on aupanthers.tv starting at 5:00 pm.

The Falcons ended the regular season with four wins in their last five games and went 6-3 in April overall. That led to a 7-6 Northeast-10 record after a tough 0-3 start in the NE10, which all came against highly ranked teams.

After a defeat to Adelphi on March 25, when the Panthers were ranked No. 1 in Division II at the time, the Falcons went 7-3 from that point on, which began with an 11-10 overtime victory over Saint Anselm at home on March 29.

The Falcons are in the NE10 playoffs for the 6th straight year. All told, the program has been in the NE10 postseason in 15 of its 18 seasons in existence. They've advanced out of the opening round five times, including last season's run to the semifinals after a 9-8 victory over Stonehill in the semifinals.

They'll be going up against a tough Adelphi team that will come into the postseason ranked No. 3 in Division II after they went 15-1 in the regular season, and 12-1 in the NE10. It's only loss so far was a 5-4 setback to No. 1 Le Moyne on April 18. The Panthers have won three straight NE10 playoff titles, they won last year's 13-6 over Le Moyne, and have won six of the last seven titles, with a three-peat from 2010-12.

Both teams were led in goals this season by high scoring seniors. Bentley's Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) led the way with 40 goals and 47 points, while Adelphi is led by Jackie Jahelka with51 goals. Jahelka was 2nd on the team in points only to freshman Alison Johnson, who tallied a team high in both points (79) and assists (46).

Both squads were also led by strong goalies. Bentley's Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit), a 2016 All-American, started 15 of 16 games in the regular season and posted the 6th best save percentage in the NE10 at 45.3. Adelphi's Hailey Peterson has the league's best save percentage (52.8) and goals against average (3.33).

The Bentley-Adelphi game is one of just four quarterfinal games taking place on Wednesday. Top seed Le Moyne hosts No. 8 seed Franklin Pierce, No. 3 seed New Haven hosts No. 6 seed Assumption, and No. 4 seed Pace hosts No. 5 seed Stonehill.

The four winners advance to the semifinals on Saturday, both games are hosted by the highest remaining seed, and the championship game will be Sunday at the same venue.
