Morley Scores in Double OT to Lift Bentley Past Saint Anselm 11-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Ciara Morley (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) scored 53 seconds into double overtime to give Bentley University a come from behind 11-10 victory over Saint Anselm on Wednesday night.

Morley scored on a free-position shot early in the second extra session to give the Falcons the win, in a game they trailed 9-6 in late in the 2nd half.

After Saint Anselm's Erica Mattila scored with 13:54 left in regulation, the Hawks had a three goal lead at 9-6. However, Bentley chipped away. Free-position goals by MaryKate Staines (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) and Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet) got the Falcons to within 9-8 with 7:18 remaining. Just over a minute later, Morley scored the tying goal, with Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) on the assist.

The Hawks would go in front one last time with a man-up goal from attacker Meaghan Sheehy, her 5th of the night, at the 3:32 mark. But the lead didn't last for long, as Bentley scored a man-up goal of its own off the stick of Ellie Shuman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) just a 1:03 later. That sent the game into OT tied 10-10 after neither team could score again in regulation.

Neither team could score in the first OT, though Bentley had the best chance with a free-position shot from Gillespie that went just wide.

Falcons goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) made seven saves to earn the win.

Bentley will look to earn its second straight victory on Saturday when they visit AIC.
