Bentley Set for Northeast-10 Quarterfinal Showdown with Stonehill

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley women's lacrosse team launches its bid for the 2016 Northeast-10 title when they host Stonehill Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 in the quarterfinals. The game can be seen live and for free on Bentleyfalcons.tv

The Falcons will come into Wednesday games as one of the hottest teams in the nation with a 10 game winning streak, which is a new program record. Saturday's 12-8 victory over then No. 9 New Haven broke the previous mark of nine straight set during the 2000 season. Not only did that game lift Bentley into the No. 3 seed of the NE-10 Championship, but the win over a top 10 team catapulted them to No. 13 in this week's IWLCA Div. II poll, up four spots from the previous week and its highest ranking of the season.

Bentley, which will enter the postseason with an overall record of 12-5 (10-3 NE-10), defeated Stonehill 15-7 back on April 13 for what was then the team's 5th straight victory. In that one, the Falcons raced out to a 7-0 lead after just eight-plus minutes of the first half and never looked back. Junior attacker Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) led the offense with five goals and two assists. Senior attacker Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) also had a big night with two goals and two assists.

Stonehill will come into Wednesday's game with a 9-8 overall record and a 7-6 NE-10 mark which saw them fall into the No. 6 seed. The Skyhawks have won two straight, over Merrimack and Pace, and three of their last four to maintain their No. 20 ranking from the IWLCA.

These two teams, who will be playing for the 27th time Wednesday night, actually met in last season's quarterfinals. That game saw the No. 4 seed Skyhawks win it 15-10. The two programs have met in the postseason on three other occasions, including the 2000 and 2007 NE-10 championship games.
